At the age of 18, I found myself struggling to understand my brain fog, sudden weight gain (30+ pounds in 3 months), and inability to lose this weight. For the next decade or so, I tried many different diet trends and exercised to exhaustion.

It was around 1998 when I learned that I can control my intrinsic insulin response to food by controlling my blood sugar “spikes”. I finally had control over my weight, my health, and my wellbeing. I have been able to maintain this and I’m now in my mid 50’s.

The concept is relatively simple, however thanks to our current food environment, lifestyles,“healthcare” that seems largely focused on “disease care”, I am not surprised that most people don’t know this. (Learn more about my Personal Health Journey here).

My keen interest in helping people learn how to achieve metabolic health is where my passion lies, and is the reason I created

I’m Audrey Volberg and I’m a Registered Health & Nutrition Counsellor (RHNC). My practice is informed by my experience working in direct healthcare as a Medical Laboratory Assistant and Cardiology Technologist; being a Working Mom and self-employed Medical Transcriptionist for specialists in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology (to name a few); becoming a self-employed Personal Trainer and, eventually, becoming a Stay At Home Mom.

But, I’m more than just my titles and work experience. Here is how I got here…

What is a LIVIT Plan going to do for you?

  • I believe that learning how to improve insulin sensitivity is the cornerstone to all health and wellness goals. As such, this is the guiding principle at the centre of all dietary, supplement, movement and lifestyle suggestions created in your LIVIT Plan.

  • I also believe that accountability check-ins are a powerful tool for setting new habits in motion. You may choose weekly 45-minute check-ins as part of a LIVIT Package .

    Complete and submit your LIVIT Health Questionnaire. I will be in touch to book your 60-minute LIVIT Consultation. A $50 deposit will be required to book and is applied to the cost of your consultation / package.

    Following your LIVIT Consultation, the balance owing of your consult / package is due. A 45-minute follow-up appointment will be booked to go through your personalized LIVIT Plan. An electronic copy will be created and delivered via email. (This may take up to 48 hours on business days).

    If you are purchasing a package, payment in full is required at the end of your initial 60-minute LIVIT Health Interview. You will also be able to book your series of follow-up appointments at this time if you purchased a LIVIT 6-Pack or LIVIT 12-Pack.

  • I will email you within 24-48 hours on business days to set up a zero commitment chat session to see if my product is right for you. Following this, you will be able to purchase your package, fill out and submit a detailed health questionnaire, and start your journey with me as your guide!

  • Once you have committed to showing up for yourself, purchased your package, and submitted your detailed health questionnaire, I will be in touch with you via phone or email to book our series.

  • If it is available to you, I highly recommend getting a DEXA scan beforehand or early into your program. The DEXA scan provides invaluable information; besides bone density, you receive an accurate calculation of your lean body mass, visceral adiposity and overall adiposity. Visceral adiposity and lean mass are very important metabolic markers. I recommend DEXA once (at least) or twice a year as it is an accurate and cost effective (running about $150-200 CDN) way to track body composition improvement. If you are in the Lower Mainland, I re commend using BodyComp Imaging, and you can use code AUV-10 for 10% off.

    Recent blood work is helpful if you would like to share, however this is not necessary.

  • Visceral fat refers to the fat that accumulates around the internal organs in the abdominal cavity, such as the liver, pancreas, and intestines. This type of fat is also known as intra-abdominal fat and is considered to be more harmful to health than subcutaneous fat, which is found just beneath the skin.

    Research has shown that excess visceral fat can increase the risk of various health problems, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and some cancers. Visceral fat is also associated with insulin resistance, which can lead to metabolic syndrome and further increase the risk of chronic diseases.

    There are several factors that can contribute to the accumulation of visceral fat, including a sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, stress, and genetics. However, adopting healthy lifestyle habits, such as regular exercise and a balanced diet, can help to reduce visceral fat and improve overall health.

  • Building and maintaining muscle mass can improve insulin sensitivity by increasing glucose uptake by muscle cells, producing hormones and cytokines that regulate glucose metabolism, improving the function and activity of the insulin receptor, and reducing body fat, particularly visceral fat.

  • A CGM can assist with weight loss by providing real-time feedback of blood sugar levels (which is a proxy for insulin response) which can help them make more informed choices about their diet and exercise habits, and regulate blood sugar levels to prevent insulin resistance and weight gain. Non-diabetics can also wear a CGM.

  • To avoid a $50 cancellation fee, login and cancel / reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment time.

  • Yes! If you have completed either the LIVIT 6-Pack or LIVIT 12-Pack, you can book a full 45-minute session or mini 25-minute session! The option becomes available once you have completed a package. Rates are $80 and $45 respectively.

  • Credit card or debit payment accepted via Stripe.

  • LIVIT Health & Nutrition Counselling does not offer any full or partial refunds. Payment for a single consultation (minus $50 deposit) is due at the end of the appointment. Payment of Packages are due following the initial consultation appointment. When you make the commitment to purchase your Personal LIVIT Plan, you make the commitment to pay for the entire program whether you do the work or not. I know that you will be much more likely to show up for yourself when you are putting your time, energy, and finances into your Health & Wellness goals.  Additionally, the exercises and materials from the program are curated especially for you, and are yours to keep forever!
